Clean-sweep for Aaron Seton after popular Trans Am Adelaide debut
Aaron Seton has completed a clean sweep of results in Adelaide, holding out a charging Nathan Herne in the closing laps of the race.
Seton took his Mustang to lights to flag victory, only really challenged by Herne in the closing stages.
Cameron Crick took his Dodge Challenger to a round-best third place, just ahead of Jimmy Vernon, who also claimed a round best race result.
Rounding out the top 10 was Nic Carroll, Craig Dontas, a charging George Miedecke, the Kubota twins of Hugh McAlister and Matthew MacKelden and Tasmanian Tim Shaw.
The big story of the race was a mechanical failure for Brett Holdsworth. After finishing second in both of the first two races, the Camaro driver made a slow start and pulled to the side of the circuit on the first lap with no drive, ruling him out.
The results meant that Seton won the round from the consistent Carroll and Vernon, who finished on the same points as McAlister, but Vernon’s stronger result in Race 3 promoted him to third overall.
The race was almost void of incident, with only Tim Shaw clipping a tyre wall, Steve McLaughlin banged wheels with Anthony Tencate at the Turn 9 hairpin, and
Shaun Richardson retired with an engine drama midway through the race.
The second round of the National Trans Am Series will be held at Sydney Motorsport Park on March 27-29.
