Hazelwood One Step Closer

In what turned out to be one of the most exciting qualifying sessions of the year, Todd Hazelwood has taken a significant step forward in successfully defending his 2024 Trans Am title by taking pole position at the BP ADL Grand Final this afternoon.

Unusually, the top runners all took multiple runs to achieve their times with Hazelwood requiring three attempts to take pole position some four tenths ahead of the inform Blake Tracey, new dad Jordan Cox, AlphaTheta Camaro pilot Elliot Barbour and LMCT+ driver James Moffat, the top seven drivers all coming under the lap record.

Nathan Herne qualified in sixth position putting pressure on his attempt to become the only three time Trans Am Champion while Ben Bargwanna enjoyed one of his best qualifying sessions of the year with seventh after a consistent engine misfire has finally been cured allowing the Hangcha Forklifts driver to finally show his pace.

Lachlan Evennett, pole sitter from the previous round had a quiet session finishing in position eight while Ben Grice completed qualifying in ninth, albeit the wrong way around on track after spinning his Mustang at turn nine avoiding James Moffatt, former Supercars driver Jack Smith rounded out the top 10.
