19 Car Field for Mallala Homecoming as Trico Trans Am kicks off back to back rounds in South Australia

19 Trans Am cars will take to Mallala Motorsport Park under lights this weekend November 21-22 for the penultimate round of the season.

After a dominant weekend at the previous round at The Bend Motorsport Park, Blake Tracey is aiming to carry his winning momentum into Mallala, a track he knows well after victories at the TA2 round back in September.

The title race remains tight with Todd Hazelwood mathematically capable of winning his second Trans Am title on the bounce, but that would require him to take pole position and win all three races to do so, or outscore second place Herne by 60 points at Mallala and again at the Adelaide Grand Final.

Alice Buckley returns to the field this weekend, following nine weeks on the sideline after an injury she sustained in race one at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Indy NXT driver Tommy Smith, nephew of Jack Smith, returns for his second Trans Am outing after stepping in at The Bend, last minute for his Uncle Jack and will line up with The Racing Academy in an SCT Logistics supported Ford Mustang for both Mallala Motorsport Park and the BP Ultimate Adelaide Grand Final.

James Golding will return to his CTE/GRM Ford Mustang for the final time this year, with Supercars commitments ruling him out of the Adelaide Grand Final.

On Saturday afternoon, a special tribute will be held in honour of Garry Rogers, who sadly passed away late last month.

On track action kicks off Friday with two practice sessions on Friday at 12:30pm and 2:50pm, before moving into qualifying at 5:20pm and a Top 10 Shootout under lights at 7:45pm. Saturday will see three races scheduled for 1:15pm, 4:20pm and 7:20pm.

Round 6 of the Trico Trans Am Series takes place this weekend, November 21 – 22 at Mallala Motorsport Park. Catch Saturday’s action live on SBS and Kayo Sports from 12:30pm – 4:30pm ACDT.

QUOTES

Blake Tracey, #5 Auto Openers Garage Doors, Ford Mustang

“I’m really excited to jump back in the car at Mallala this weekend. It’s been a long break between rounds, but I’ve been doing everything I can to stay sharp behind the wheel and make sure I can deliver when it counts.”

“I’ve raced at Mallala before in a TA2 car and came away with a few podiums, so I know the circuit well and feel confident heading into the weekend. Hopefully everyone keeps it clean out there so we can avoid any drama, especially with the final round in Adelaide coming up next weekend.”

“Overall, I’m really looking forward to getting back on track and putting together a strong performance.”

Alice Buckley, #50 Chevrolet Racing, Chevrolet Camaro

“The recovery process has taken a while, but I was able to jump back in the car for some testing early last week to see if I was ready for Mallala and Adelaide, and I felt really good which I was super pumped about.”

“I’m looking forward to “take two” at my Trans Am debut.”

“My expectations for the weekend are intentionally low given I haven’t been in the car for nine weeks, and these will be my first races at both tracks but based on the success I’ve had in this car so far, I’m not expecting to be at the back.

“I don’t know exactly what to expect, but I’m excited and ready to get stuck into it.”
