Fresh Talent Set for Trico Trans Am Series Return to South Australia

A competitive 25-car field, featuring some new names, will line up at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park this weekend for Round 5 of the Trico Trans Am Series, held as part of the AirTouch 500 Supercar event, at The Bend, near Murray Bridge in South Australia.

Aaron Love delivered a standout performance at Sandown in the previous round, securing his first outright Trans Am podium with a third-place finish, and he’s aiming to carry that momentum into this weekend’s event.

Rising talent Alice Buckley will make her Trans Am debut this weekend, coming off the back of an impressive run in the TA2 Muscle Car Series, where she claimed two race wins on debut and followed it up with victory in last month’s TA2 Tag Team Enduro alongside Tim Slade. She also recently secured her first championship title, taking out the Toyota 86 Scholarship Series.

Indy NXT driver Tommy Smith will take the wheel of the #111 SCT Logistics Ford Mustang, stepping in for Jack Smith, who shifts focus to the Supercar enduro campaign with Brad Jones Racing.

Cody Maynes-Rutty returns to the grid for The Racing Academy following a solid performance at Sandown, alongside teammates Blake Tracey and Cameron Laws. Tracey, in particular, will be out for redemption after a late-race tyre puncture ruined his hopes of a podium finish last round.

TFH Racing will expand its line-up this weekend, welcoming rising talents Ben Gomersall and Diesel Thomas to the grid. The pair, currently frontrunners in the TA2 Muscle Car Series, sit second and fourth respectively in the championship.

Nick Lange will also return to the Trans Am grid this weekend as one of several new additions to the field.

On track action kicks off Friday with two practice sessions at 10:30am and 12:55pm, followed by qualifying at 3:15pm. Races one and two are set for Saturday at 9:00am and 1:25pm, with race three scheduled for Sunday at 11:30am.

Round 5 of the Trico Trans Am Series takes place this weekend, September 12-14 at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park as part of the AirTouch 500 Supercars event. Catch Saturday and Sunday’s action live on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.

QUOTES

Aaron Love, #45 Hi-Tec Oils Chev Camaro

“We had a strong weekend last time out at Sandown. If the conditions had been a bit drier, we might’ve had an even better result, but overall, it was a positive round. Hopefully, we can carry that momentum into this weekend and have a bit more luck on our side.”

“I’ve done quite a few laps around The Bend in other categories, and it’s a circuit I really enjoy. That said, every round this year has been my first time driving these tracks in a Trans Am car, so the approach is still very much eyes open and ready to adapt. Hopefully, we can keep building on what we showed at Sandown and continue moving forward.”

Alice Buckley, #150 Chevrolet Racing Chev Camaro

“I’m really excited to be joining the Trans Am Series this weekend. It’s a great opportunity, and while I don’t have any set expectations results-wise, I’m going in with some confidence. At the start of the year, we didn’t even plan to race in TA2, let alone have the kind of success we’ve had, so we’re just keen to give it a proper go and see where we end up.”
