Herne Disqualified from Queensland Race 4 Results
A number of post-race penalties have dramatically shaken up the finishing order of Race 4 from Queensland Raceway in the Trico Trans Am Series.
The biggest story is undoubtedly the disqualification of Nathan Herne from the Race 4 results. A technical breach in Parc Ferme following the final race of the weekend saw Herne referred to the stewards and subsequently stripped of his runner-up finish.
In a cruel twist of fate, race winner Todd Hazelwood was also slapped with a five second penalty for a race start infringement. That would have seen Herne handed the victory, but instead Hazelwood retains his race win by six tenths of a second over Jordan Boys.
Elliott Cleary is promoted to third, earning a podium result after his duel with Boys in the closing laps of Race 4. James Moffat earns a few extra crucial points in his promotion to fourth, ahead of James Golding to round out the top five for the final race of the weekend.
The shakeup sees Boys jump Herne to claim second for the round, but the Lismore driver still takes third for the weekend courtesy of his impressive performances in the first three races. The Young Gun Award remains unaffected, which Herne claimed for the second time in 2024.
The final implication is an extra place gained for Elliott Cleary in his remarkable comeback from a Race 1 DNF. It brings Cleary’s tally to 20 places gained over the course of the weekend, earning him the MPI up on the Wheel Award for round five of the season.
Rounds six and seven of the Trico Trans Am Series will see an epic conclusion to the season from November 8-17 at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International and the VAILO Adelaide 500.
