21 Cars for Trico Trans Am Series at Queensland Raceway

The Trico Trans Am Series field roars back into action this weekend with a strong roster of drivers set to take on Queensland Raceway.

21 cars will storm to Turn 1 at the track known affectionately as ‘The Paperclip’, marking the largest field of the year for the category as excitement builds ahead of a spectacular two-week finale in Bathurst and Adelaide.

Lee Stibbs returns after a standout weekend in the Pro-Am category at The Bend. The South Aussie is joined by fellow Pro-Am newcomers for 2024, Jason Pryde, Des Collier and Domain Ramsey.

There’s been a notable change at Garry Rogers Motorsport, with Tim Slade making way for experienced Trans Am racer Brett Holdsworth in the Breeze Racing Mustang. Local hero James Simpson is another big addition to the Outright field, adding his popular Dodge Challenger to the mix.

Holinger Racing have expanded their operation, with TCR Australia race-winner Jordan Cox joining Trans Am for the first time in an Outright entry alongside Pro-Am front runner John Holinger.

What’s shaping up to be a four-way title fight will provide plenty of excitement across the round’s four races, with previous Queensland Raceway form suggesting the combatants may tighten up even further than their current 47 points by weekend’s end.

The Racing Academy occupy fourth spot in the race for the Drivers’ title with Jordan Boys, but it was at this round in 2023 where they claimed their first pole position in the category. Todd Hazelwood, third in the points, has logged extensive testing miles recently at the circuit in his TFH Racing Mustang and comes off the back of his breakthrough victories at The Bend.

James Moffat and James Golding sit first and second for Garry Rogers Motorsport but face a visit to the only circuit where the Melbourne squad failed to score a victory in 2023.

A busy Friday schedule will see the field take in two 20-minute practice sessions before fighting for the Trico Pole Award at 4:30pm.

Saturday and Sunday both feature two races each, with all four races to be shown live and free on 7plus. International viewers can tune in via the SpeedSeries website.

Round five of Trico Trans Am for 2024 takes place from August 2-4 at Queensland Raceway, as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.
