Morris Flashes to the Top in Practice 2
Practice 2 for the Trico Trans Am Series saw a shakeup in the running order from Practice 1, with Nash Morris establishing himself as one of the front runners ahead of Qualifying tomorrow morning.
James Golding was fastest in the early stages of the session, with Nash Morris second, James Moffat, Tim Slade and Elliot Barbour completing the top five.
There was just two tenths of a second covering the top three at the halfway point, with 0.02s between the leading pair.
A red flag was brought out for Chris Pappas, who stopped on track with a mechanical issue. Once the session got back underway it was Morris who took to the top of the timesheets ahead of Golding. Jordan Boys was another to find a chunk of time, vaulting up to third.
There was little change beyond that, with most drivers finding their best laps early on around the short Sandown circuit.
Morris’ time was two tenths slower than Barbour’s effort from Practice 1, with conditions heating up as the afternoon goes on.
On combined times, Barbour holds the fastest time of the day, ahead of Boys and Morris. Tom Hayman and Moffat round out the top five.
Qualifying, and the fight for the Trico Pole Award, takes place at 10:00am local time on Saturday – live on 7plus.

“It was pretty good, we went a bit faster than our Practice 1 time, which means we’ve gone well with our tuning of the car,” said Morris.
“It’s only practice though, we’ll try and continue on the speed tomorrow when it really matters. As you can see it’s pretty tight there, and the more laps everyone does the better they’ll get, so it’s going to be interesting tomorrow,” concluded Morris.
