Hazelwood and Moffat Juggle Trans Am and Supercars Duties at The Bend
The Trico Trans Am Series returns to Shell-V Power Motorsport Park this weekend as part of the AirTouch 500 Supercar event and two of the category’s top contenders, Todd Hazelwood and James Moffat, will be balancing double duties.
Hazelwood, who currently leads the championship, is set to balance his title campaign with co-driving duties at DJR Team Penske reuniting with Brodie Kostecki for the endurance season following their Bathurst 1000 triumph last year.
The South Australian has been in top form throughout the 2025 season and says that managing double duties is always a unique but fun challenge especially when it’s two completely different cars.
“Double duties are always a unique challenge, especially when switching between two completely different cars. Going from a left-hand drive to right-hand drive, different tyres, with totally different performance characteristics actually makes it easier for me to transition between them.”
“I’m also really looking forward to heading back to Shell-V Power Motorsport Park. It holds a special place for me, I scored my first Trans Am race win there last year and was fighting it out with Moffat for the outright win, so there’s no reason we can’t go out and do it again this weekend.”
Joining Hazelwood on double duties is Garry Rogers Motorsport driver James Moffat who will be driving for Tickford in the Supercar enduros.
Moffat was a standout at Shell-V Power Motorsport Park last year, dominating the weekend and walking away with the overall Trans Am round win. He has been fortunate enough to do double duties before, so he knows what it takes to prepare himself both physically and mentally.
“Fortunately, I’ve done double duties before, so I know what it takes to prepare myself physically and mentally for both Trans Am and Supercars and I’m looking forward to the challenge. Shell-V Power Motorsport Park is a great circuit that really suits the Trans Am cars, so I’m hoping for some strong racing across the weekend.”
“I’m not really focused on the championship at this point, it’s been one of those years where we’ve had strong pace but a few things haven’t gone our way. Right now, it’s all about chasing race wins, being competitive at the front, and giving it our best shot.”
James Golding who currently sits third in the championship for Garry Rogers Motorsport will miss out on this round due to his Supercar commitments.
Round 5 of the Trico Trans Am Series takes place September 12-14 at Shell-V Power Motorsport Park as part of the AirTouch 500 Supercars event. Catch Saturday and Sunday’s action live on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.
