GRM lock out the front row for Round 4 of Trico Trans Am
GRM Trans Am driver James Golding has taken pole position for round 4 of the Trico Trans Am Series at Sandown this afternoon while team mate and former Champion James Moffat will start from P2 making it an all GRM front row just ahead of the Marcos Ambrose Motorsport pilot Aaron Love netting third position in the first of the Camaro’s.
The top eight positions were covered by less than second which included current series leader and defending Trans Am Champion Todd Hazelwood in fourth, Ben Grice in fifth, Elliot Cleary in sixth, while series debutant Cody Maynes-Rutty posted an impressive seventh best time with another GRM driver Jordan Cox rounding out top eight in the Schaeffler Mustang.
Nathan Herne suffered through a difficult qualifying session only posting the 16th best time with thoughts there may be a gremlin in the BlueGold Industries Mustang the team cannot find.
Clay Richards endured a difficult lead up to qualifying suffering a broken axle in practice two, with the team completing the repairs minutes into the qualifying session only to be handed a three-grid place penalty for speeding in the pits.
The session was cut short with four minutes remaining when John Holinger stopped his Holinger Engineering Mustang at turn one due to a small fire under the car which was quickly extinguished.

James Golding, #31 CTE Ford Mustang
“Absolutely stoked to come away with pole position! The car was an absolute rocket out there. We made a few tweaks during practice, and it all came together perfectly in qualifying, we nailed the lap when it really counted. Massive credit to the boys at GRM for the incredible job getting the car back together after the fire in Darwin. It’s just as quick as ever. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s race, let’s see what the day brings.”
