Hazelwood Takes Pole with Lap Record Pace at Darwin Triple Crown
2024 Trico Trans Am Champion and current Championship leader Todd Hazelwood has once again taken a stunning pole position ahead of race one tomorrow for round three of the series at the BETR Darwin Triple Crown Saturday 21st of June with a 1.08.4 time running a second under lap record pace.
Hazlewood was also fastest in the first practice session however practice two was halted after only a few laps when the engine of Elliot Cleary who was making his return to the series, failed on the main straight resulting in an oil fire eventually leading to the cancelation of the session, and Cleary’s weekend.
Former and current Supercars and Dunlop Super 2 drivers featured heavily in the top 10 of qualifying with Moffat, Morris, Slade, Smith, Boys and Love all lapping within a second of Hazlewood but it was 2024 TA2 Champion Josh Haynes who laid down his best qualifying result since stepping up to Trans Am in 2025 locking in fifth position.
Sadly for Trans Am debutant Tim Blanchard, his session finished early after a drive line issue relegating the Supercars team owner to back of the grid for race one tomorrow while Tom Davies also found the wall but the GRM team has begun work in an effort to get Davies out for the first race tomorrow.
