Big Names Join Competitive Grid as Trans Am Heads to Hidden Valley

A competitive 27-car field is set to light up Hidden Valley Raceway this weekend for Round 3 of the Trico Trans Am Series, supporting the Betr Darwin Triple Crown Supercars event.

The field is boosted by high-profile inclusions, including Supercars team owner Tim Blanchard and former Supercars driver Aaron Love, both set to make their Trans Am debuts adding further depth to an already competitive grid.

Series leader Todd Hazelwood enters the round with a 79 point margin over Garry Rogers Motorsport’s James Golding, who won’t be running this weekend due to his Supercars commitments, which has provided an opportunity for Elliot Cleary to step in to pilot the CTE Custom Transport Equipment Ford Mustang.

Tim Slade is set to join The Racing Academy for this weekend’s round, expanding the team to a three-car operation alongside rising talents Blake Tracey and Cameron Laws.

Holinger Racing has also expanded its operation for the Darwin event, with Jordan Boys set to make his Trans Am return in the #49 Mustang joining teammates Chase Hoy and John Holinger.

The Pro-Am class battle will heat up this weekend, with TFH Racing’s Josh Thomas leading the standings by 13 points over John Holinger while Mark Bailey, Josh Webster, and Des Collier round out the top five.

On track action begins Friday with two practice sessions at 8:35am and 10:05am, followed by qualifying at 12:10pm. Race One will take place on Saturday at 10:50am, with Races Two and Three scheduled for Sunday at 8:00am and 12:45pm.

Round 3 of the Trico Trans Am series takes place June 20-22 at Hidden Valley Raceway as part of the Betr Darwin Triple Crown Supercars event.

QUOTES
Tim Blanchard, #36 CoolDrive Racing, Ford Mustang

“Since stepping away from full-time Supercars racing, I’ve been looking for the right opportunity to get back behind the wheel but I wanted something competitive, enjoyable, as well as being cost-effective and Trans Am really stood out as the perfect fit.”

“This weekend is very much a learning experience for me. It’s a great opportunity to get a feel for the category, especially with it running alongside a Supercars event. We’ll see how things unfold, and I’m really looking forward to getting out there.”

Aaron Love, #45 Marcos Ambrose Motorsport, Chev Camaro
“I chose to race in Trans Am because it’s exciting, different, and something I know I’ll need to adapt too. At this point in my career, I just want to get back on track in an environment I’ll enjoy, one where I can perform, keep learning, and continue building my driver profile.”

“I had the chance to do a test day at Winton a couple of weeks ago, which was really valuable. Elliot Barbour came out to help me get a better feel for the car and understand how to get the most out of it. It’s a highly competitive series, so being comfortable in the car is key. I really enjoy driving these cars—there are similarities to a current Supercar, but the Trans Am is also quite unique, especially with the big Hoosier tyres the category runs.”

Todd Hazelwood, #1 TFH Racing, Ford Mustang
“We’ve had a fantastic start to the 2025 season, but to be honest, not everything has gone our way in the first two rounds. To come away with five wins from six races, despite the challenges and drama we’ve faced, is a bit of a surprise, but it’s also a testament to how hard the entire team has been working behind the scenes.”

“Heading to Darwin with the Trans Am cars will definitely be a challenge. It’s by far the hottest conditions we’ve ever raced these cars in. We know these machines are tough on brakes and tyres, and Hidden Valley always delivers intense, hard-fought racing.”
