Bargwanna’s Learning Experience

BEN Bargwanna’s debut in the Trico Trans Am Series from Hi-Tec Oils Race Tasmania saw the youngster creep up on the competition – by the fourth and final race, he placed sixth overall and tenth for the weekend, registering himself as a driver to look out for as the 2025 season progresses.

While the deal to shift into the Trans Am class came relatively late in the piece, the Symmons Plains weekend saw the Victorian dive into the deep end of the competition.

“I am just having so much fun, these cars are awesome, they’re good fun to drive, the racing is epic, 32 cars (in Tasmania), I’m having an absolute blast,” said Bargwanna.

“Trans Am is an absolute polar opposite (to TCR), and I’m having to get my head around it.

“I have to go to right foot braking, which I haven’t done in five years, and it drives off the rear wheels with twice the cylinders.

“It’s definitely a bit to get my head around, but I quite enjoy it.

Run in-house under the Bargwanna Motorsport banner, the outfit is receiving some assistance from Garry Rogers Motorsport, however, there is still much to learn.

“I pretty much don’t know anything about it; I’ve got a lot to learn, that’s for sure,” said Bargwanna.

“Look, Dad (Jason) worked on Jimmy Goulding’s car last year, so we do have a bit of information and a bit of knowledge about them, but for me as a driver, I don’t know a lot, so I’ve got a lot to learn.

For Bathurst, where an expanded field will also encompass the best of TA2 racing, Bargwanna is aiming to arrive well-prepared.

“We’ll put some time in and get the car ready and prepped for Bathurst, but I think with a bit more time to think about it, it’s going to be better for our team and me as a driver.

“I’ve been to Bathurst, but I’ve never been to Bathurst in one of these, so I’m going to have to think about and learn a lot.”

The Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour is scheduled for April 18-20, with further information available at bathurst6hour.com.au.
