Lachlan Evennett Joins GRM For Trans Am Debut

EXCITING up-and-coming prospect Lachlan Evennett will make his Trico Trans Am Series debut next week with title-winning squad Garry Rogers Motorsport.

The 16-year-old made the step up to car racing in 2024 and plied his trade across five different categories including Formula Ford, Toyota 86, GT4, Formula Open and Aussie Racing Cars.

Over the summer Evennett has spent time competing in New Zealand’s GR86 Championship, where he recorded a race victory and multiple podium finishes.

In 2025 Evennett will join a long list of young talents to develop their craft at GRM, where the team has fostered a reputation for launching the careers of some of the sport’s most awarded drivers.

Recent young drivers to come through the GRM pathway include Supercars driver Aaron Cameron, Super2 star Lochie Dalton and two-time Trans Am champion Nathan Herne.

Like teammate Tom Davies in 2023, Evennett impressed as a participant in the 2024 GRM Combine with his adaptability and immediate speed across TCR, Trans Am and S5000 machinery.

Evennett will join Davies and James Moffat as part of what will be a five-car stable at GRM in the 2025 Trico Trans Am Series.

Quotes:
Lachlan Evennett, #8 CAMM Quarries & Concrete Ford Mustang
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how I do, especially with the level of competition that the Trans Am Series will have this year. I also think it will pose a great challenge for me, but I’m ready to tackle it head on.

“The chance to learn off very experienced drivers like Moff is an awesome opportunity that GRM have given me and I’m very excited to be able to work with them and the entire GRM team. I feel really honoured joining GRM and I’m looking forward to repaying the faith that Garry and Barry have put in me for 2025.

“Going into such a hotly contested series, expectations are hard to make, but I really want to learn all the tracks, how the Trans Am feels in racing conditions and fight for top ten finishes.

“I’ve tested well in the Trans Am which was great and got me very comfortable in the cars, and I am really looking forward to showing what I’ve got in Tassie for round one in the CAMM Quarries & Concrete Ford Mustang.”

Barry Rogers – Director, Garry Rogers Motorsport
“Nurturing young talent is what motivates us to go motor racing and to do this well it requires patience and a team setup that provides experience and leadership.

“Lachy (Lachlan Evennett) took part in the GRM Combine in 2024 and he did a tremendous job in the various race cars under the tutelage of Marcos Ambrose and GRM Trans Am drivers James Moffat and Jimmy Golding. We have been watching Lachy closely since, particularly his Formula Ford racing with Brett Francis (BF Racing) who we rate highly.

“Lachy has shown tremendous maturity for someone so young and we hope to have a positive influence on his career.”
