Hazelwood Crowned 2024 Trico Trans Am Series Champion
James Moffat has won the battle, but Todd Hazelwood won the war in Trico Trans Am.

Sharing the front row for the rolling start to the final race of the season, 29 points separated the title combatants, in Hazelwood’s favour.
That meant Hazelwood simply needed to finish inside the top five to seal the deal – seemingly a straightforward task from pole position.
However, Hazelwood quickly got into uncomfortable territory to inject some uncertainty, demoted to fourth by Turn 4 on Lap 1.
Moffat got the jump at the start and was followed through by Nathan Herne, before Ben Grice launched an opportunistic manoeuvre on the #111 TFH Mustang.
So it was game on as the race was neutralised, a Safety Car intervention required after Mark Crutcher slapped the Turn 8 wall on the opening lap.
But the 2024 Bathurst 1000-winning co-driver kept his cool when others did not.
Herne came unstuck at Turn 5, and that opened the door for Hazelwood to re-pass Grice for what was now second.
A ripping scrap unfolded between Jackson Rice, Edan Thornburrow and Tom Hayman, the latter’s car looking particularly loose.
Moffat checked out to win by 3.3443s, while Hazelwood dropped third-placed Grice to cruise to title glory.
Hayman ended up fourth after getting by both Rice and Thornburrow, while a five-second penalty dropped Elliot Barbour to eighth behind Tom Davies.
Des Collier (outright ninth) pipped Mark Bailey to the Pro-Am honours, ahead of Joshua Webster and Jason Pryde.
With Herne and Domain Ramsey not finishing, last classified was Brett Holdsworth after he crashed twice on the penultimate lap.
