Brett Holdsworth Makes GRM Switch for Trans Am Return
Experienced Trico Trans Am Series racer Brett Holdsworth will return to the category from Queensland Raceway, as he takes over the Breeze Holiday Parks entry fielded by Garry Rogers Motorsport.
The car has been campaigned across the first four rounds of the season by Tim Slade, with the Breeze branding previously a fixture on Holdsworth’s car in 2022 and 2023.
Holdsworth is one of just two drivers to twice finish the season inside the top three in the standings, the other being two-time series winner Nathan Herne. The Gold Coast local has spent much of his time in Trans Am racing against GRM machinery, having finished in third and as the highest non-GRM driver in the past two seasons.
Experience will play a key role for Holdsworth as he returns to the most competitive field the category has ever seen, with Queensland Raceway serving as a home round and with the bonus of joining Herne as the only drivers on the grid to have previously raced at the Adelaide Street Circuit in Trans Am (2020).
It’s also a reunion of the Holdsworth and Rogers names, after Lee Holdsworth drove for GRM in the Supercars Championship from 2005 to 2011.
The five-car fleet at GRM now consists of James Moffat and James Golding – who are holding down first and second in the points – along with Edan Thornburrow, Tom Davies and now Holdsworth.
Round five of the Trico Trans Am Series takes place at Queensland Raceway from August 2-4, as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.

“I just caught up with Barry and Garry and was just saying it’s amazing because it’s spot on 20 years since Lee first walked in the door here, so it was kind of cool to walk in here as a GRM driver all these years later,” said Holdsworth.
“Great to be back in the category and back with Breeze Holiday Parks, keen to see what we can do at Queensland Raceway. The depth in the field is crazy now, so I’ll just feel my way and have a crack. Just looking to be on par with the other GRM boys, go racing and have some fun.
“The big benefit for me is going to be being able to overlay the data with four other cars, or at least one other car. That was the big thing for me in the past is I always ran as a one car team with Ash Seward Motorsport. The one thing I need to say is I could not have been happier with what Ash did with my car over the past years, awesome team, preparation and always looked immaculate.
“To compare what I’m doing against the best drivers in the field, it’s going to be a huge advantage for me and I’m excited to get it going,” concluded Holdsworth.
