The Champions Lead the Way Early in Tasmania

The two champions in the field, James Moffat and Nathan Herne, led the way in opening practice for round two of the 2024 Trico Trans Am Series at AWC Race Tasmania.

All 20 minutes ran interruption free, but drivers certainly weren’t taking it easy with a number of excursions at turn six, notably from Ben Grice and Jordan Boys. Both drivers continued on, with Boys third fastest and Grice in eighth.

Moffat led for the entirety of the session while Herne climbed his way up the order, dialling himself back into the Trans Am rhythm with seeming ease to finish up 0.1152s away from Moffat’s pace-setting 54.0370s time.

Further down, the top 15 were covered by just three quarters of a second as the typically close nature of Symmons Plains Raceway lived up to its reputation. Behind Moffat, Herne and Boys, the top ten was rounded out by Tim Slade, Elliot Barbour, James Golding, Todd Hazelwood, Ben Grice, Jackson Rice and Elliott Cleary.

Josh Webster was the fastest driver in Pro-Am, and 16th overall, ahead of Chris Pappas, John Holinger, Joshua Thomas and the debutant Mark Bailey.

Practice two takes place at 1:20pm AEDT.
