Back-to-Back in Saturday Sweep for Moffat

James Moffat has delivered back-to-back victories in a near perfect Saturday at Sandown, as part of the opening round for the Trico Trans Am Series in 2024.

The Garry Rogers Motorsport driver held the lead through a trouble-free turn one, but it was turn two where it came unstuck behind. Elliot Barbour was pitched off the road and was sent flying across the grass, re-joining only to be hit again and this time into the Armco on drivers right.

Nash Morris pulled off a late pass at turn nine on Golding to jump to second place, with a small touch resulting in a puncture for the #31 and forcing Golding to the pits. The Race 1 pole-sitter would rejoing and finish a lap down in 14th. Morris had later dropped to third behind a fast Jordan Boys when he had issues of his own, and was forced limp across the line in 13th.

Boys raced from the second row of the grid to finish in second, and just 0.3351 seconds back from Moffat, setting the fastest lap of the race in the process.

Todd Hazelwood and Tim Slade both made significant progress as well, with Hazelwood coming up three spots to round out the podium while Slade flew from 13th to finish in fourth. The pair fighting until the final lap for the final podium place.

Ben Grice rounded out the top five ahead of Elliot Cleary, Edan Thornburrow, Jackson Rice, Tom Davies and Pro-Am winner Josh Webster.
