Tom Davies Joins GRM for Maiden Trans Am Tilt
Tom Davies will make the transition from Toyota 86 to Trans Am in 2024, with the 21-year-old linking up with Garry Rogers Motorsport for his maiden season in the category.
Davies started racing in Queensland Formula Ford in 2021, making starts in the Australian Formula Ford Series in 2022 and taking on the full calendar in 2023. Alongside his Formula Ford campaign, Davies also contested the 2023 Toyota 86 Series, picking up top 10 results in his first year in the category.
2024 won’t be the first time Davies has worked with the GRM squad, after the young racer was selected to take part in the Valvoline GRM Combine at the start of 2023. Davies impressed with his performances across the week, and 12 months on will take over the chassis that was steered by James Moffat to the 2023 Trans Am title.
Davies travelled with the team to the 2024 Combine, where he got his first drive of the #42 which he will steer throughout the upcoming season. The week also served as an opportunity for Davies to build his relationship with the team ahead of round one.
The addition of Davies brings the GRM Trans Am effort to three cars for 2024, joining Moffat and Edan Thornburrow who will steer a pair of Valvoline entries. Davies joins fellow Toyota 86 graduate Ryan Casha at GRM, who was recently announced to steer the #79 Peugeot 308 TCR.
All the action from round one, February 9-11 at Sandown Raceway, will be live and free on the Seven Network as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.

“I’m pretty excited to get back with GRM as a driver this year, everyone is super knowledgeable about their profession and easy to get along with,” said Davies.
“I’ve always wanted to race a V8, and after exploring our options we thought it would be a great opportunity to race in Trans Am as they’re a challenging car to drive and be quick in. It’s also an extremely strong field to race against and cost-effective.
“I’m hoping for a strong year, I think this car really suits my driving style so it would be good to be amongst the top five this year. I think it’s a huge advantage having the experience in the team from my teammates, and I’m planning to learn as much as I can from them.
“The test in Tassie went well, and I was able to get comfortable in the car quickly. It was definitely needed in order to get used to the car ahead of the first round, particularly the way it moves around and brakes. I’m feeling confident for the season ahead,” concluded Davies.
