Valvoline Backing, NASCAR Inspired Livery for Thornburrow

Edan Thornburrow will carry major backing from Valvoline in his second Trans Am season with the Garry Rogers Motorsport squad.

The switch to major Valvoline backing in 2024 comes with an American collaboration that sees Thornburrow don a livery inspired by William Byron’s 2024 NASCAR Cup Series scheme.

Having competed in Trans Am since 2021 Thornburrow holds a unique position as one of the category’s more experienced drivers, while still being one of the younger drivers in the field at just 20-years-old.

Thornburrow’s 2021 season produced a career-best second in the points, achieved through a year of consistent performances amongst the top five. Joining GRM for the 2023 season produced three podium finishes, with a best result of second coming at Mount Panorama. For 2024, Thornburrow will move into the chassis steered last year by Lochie Dalton to second in the points.

The Trans Am calendar takes on seven rounds, notably including a maiden visit to The Bend and a return to the VAILO Adelaide 500 which hosted the inaugural Trans Am round in 2020.

Race Sandown hosts the season opener from February 9-11 as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.

“The opportunity to represent Valvoline is very exciting, and I know the crew are going to give me an excellent car just like last year,” said Thornburrow.

“Last year was a great learning experience in working with a team, it was the first year I’ve had that, being able to bounce off teammates, share video and data and have that group of people around me.

“It’s pretty unique, the amount of laps I’ve done in these cars is right up there, but a lot of the others have a lot more experience outside of Trans Am. Hopefully those miles in Trans Am machinery will give me a bit of an edge this year.

“Adelaide is the only round I didn’t do, and I was so bummed out watching that on the TV. I really can’t wait to get there at the end of the year and get a look at my first street circuit as well.

“Just a massive thank you to Barry and Garry Rogers and Valvoline for their support,” concluded Thornburrow.
