Tim Slade stripped of podium for contact with Owen Kelly

Supercars star Tim Slade has stripped of his podium finish from the opening race of the National Trans Am Series at Symmons Plains Raceway.

The stewards have handed Slade a five second penalty after Slade made contact with Owen Kelly during Race 1.

The penalty has elevated Kelly up to third place, while Slade is now officially classified 13th in his maiden Trans Am race.

In other penalty news, John Holiger copped two 30 second penalties for on-track incidents, leaving him last in the results.

The race was won by James Moffat ahead of pole sitter Ben Grice.

Races 2 and 3 will be held today, with the first encounter set to start at 12:50pm and the final race of the weekend at 3:25pm.
