Ben Grice ready to convert pace into results as he targets Trans Am title

Acknowledged as one of the fastest drivers in the field, All American Driveline’s Ben Grice is determined to convert pace into results in 2023.

Grice was consistently one of the fastest drivers last season, but failed to convert this into consistent results leading to 14th in the end of season standings.

At the non-points scoring event as part of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International, Grice proved the highlight of the weekend after a brush with the concrete forced him to start from the rear of grid. A customary charge through the field led to a podium in the final race for Grice, demonstrating the speed of the All American Driveline Mustang and bringing good momentum for 2023.

Since the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International in November, Grice and the team at ICL Racing has given the All American Driveline Mustang a birthday ahead of the season opener at AWC Race Tasmania.

“After Bathurst the rear of the Mustang was damaged so we fixed that up and the team did an awesome job to get the All American Driveline entry on the podium there, but it’s had a full rebuild over Christmas,” Grice explained.

“It’s going to be a brand new car again.”

His results at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International has Grice bullish about his title aspirations as he targets a more consistent campaign in 2023 due also to the stability within his team.

“We should be there or thereabouts,” Grice said.

“There were a few rounds where I didn’t really capitalise on the speed that we had as we set lap records, had a couple of poles and was fastest on Friday, but then come out of the weekend with not much to show from it.

“My job this year will be capitalising on the speed and getting the best possible results that we can.”

Previewing AWC Race Tasmania, Grice explained the keys to a successful weekend at the tight Symmons Plains Raceway on February 24-26.

“In Tasmania, it will be key to qualify well and stay inside the top three to five, so we can give ourselves the best opportunity to score the most points we can,” Grice summarised.
