Rookie of The Year Jon McCorkindale on the search for increased support

Jon McCorkindale is on the search for increased support ahead of his second season in the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series in 2023.

The experienced driver was recently awarded the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series Rookie of The Year Award at the end of season prize giving ceremony after finishing an impressive fifth outright in the standings.

However, after a 20-year association with main supporter Dial Before You Dig it confirmed it was not continuing into next season leaving McCorkindale to search for new support.

Discussions are occurring with multiple suitors, but McCorkindale is aiming to solidify his budget by attracting further sponsorship.

“We’ve talked to other companies,” said McCorkindale. “We’re starting to plod around with some smaller amounts of supporter, but unfortunately nothing really to lock away the season yet.

“The benefit for someone wanting to support a team like ours is a family team providing bang for buck as we supply the service for a much lower fee.

“Hopefully, through the years of building up our own infrastructure that will put our best foot forward in trying to find a sponsor in doing a lot more for a lot less.

“We only want to get better, we’re not there to make up the numbers.”

After finishing his maiden season strongly, McCorkindale is keen to continue this momentum into 2023.

“It’s a good feeling to come away with the Rookie of the Year,” he reflected.

“We started the year so poorly after essentially didn’t have a car until a week or two before the opening round, however we’ve been getting stronger and stronger to finish the season off as one of the contenders in regards to outright pace.”

“The stuff we learnt this year, to start 2023 with that knowledge is just massive.”
