Andrew Jones returns to commentary for Supercheap Auto Bathurst International
Respected racer and commentator Andrew Jones will make a return to commentary duties for the inaugural Supercheap Auto Bathurst International this weekend.
Jones will join the stellar Stan Sports calling line-up, adding another racer to team that includes Michael Caruso and Fabian Coulthard.
With Caruso competing in both the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series and making his debut in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS, plus his commentary obligations, the broadcast team has elected to bring on another commentator into the mix to help cover the huge 15 hours of live and ad-break free coverage that will spill onto the Stan Sport screens this weekend.
The broadcast of the inaugural Supercheap Auto Bathurst International will also include two hours of free-to-air coverage on 9GEM on Saturday afternoon, 3-5pm AEDT.
Jones is a former Super2 champion and Supercars regular. After his retirement from racing, he built an emerging commentary career from 2018.
Look and listen for Jones to be walking and talking up and down the Mount Panorama pit lane over the course of the weekend, as well as sitting in the commentary box for the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS.
He will join regular SpeedSeries callers Matt White, Greg Rust, Chris Stubbs, Molly Taylor, Richard Craill, Matt Naulty, Caruso and Coulthard.
Jones is looking forward to returning to work with some of the best broadcasters in the business.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with many of the crew on the SpeedSeries broadcast in different capacities, and it is going to be great to get back into it,” said Jones.
“Michael Caruso is competing in both TCR and GT, and I was going to Mount Panorama for the Bathurst International anyway, so when I got the call, I took the opportunity to do some stuff from the lane as well as get into the box for the GTs.
“The group of people that have been put together for the SpeedSeries commentary is terrific, and they do an amazing job.
“Matt Naulty is a class act, Rusty and Crailly are great operators, Matt White is a professional, Molly is terrific, Caruse and Fabs have been around a long time and add great insight and Stubbsie and I have done stuff before.
“When you have an opportunity to work with good people who are great at their chosen craft, it was a no brainer to slot in and have a crack. And I’d love to more of it, too.”
