Trans Am wildcard ready for ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’
Robert Noaker has confirmed he will compete in the Trans Am 100 at the Bathurst International.
The 18-year-old who hails from Pennsylvania will race a Dodge Challenger in what is the final event of this year’s SpeedSeries calendar.
This year’s Trans Am Series came to a conclusion at Sandown where Nathan Herne won the title.However, the Bathurst International will see the muscle cars on show as part of a non-points-paying event.
Despite being worlds away, Noaker said he’s been transfixed by Mount Panorama ever since he saw the famed circuit on TV.
“I remember first seeing the Bathurst track on TV over 10 years ago. I was probably six or eight years old then. It’s one of the world’s most famous tracks,” said Noaker.
“When we heard that running the Turtle Wax Trans Am 100 at the Bathurst International was possible, we knew it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
In the United States, Noaker raced a Ford Mustang on Pirelli tyres. Here, in Australia, he’ll race a Dodge Challenger with Hoosier rubber.
While the cars themselves aren’t all that different, getting used to the characteristics of the tyre compound will take some getting used to.
