Turtle Wax Trans Am 100 field revealed for Supercheap Auto Bathurst International

The second Turtle Wax Trans Am 100 field is set to be a hotly-contested affair as part of the inaugural Supercheap Auto Bathurst International.

Defending Trans Am 100 winner and two-time national Trans Am champion Nathan Herne is back in his Valvoline Team GRM Ford Mustang. The rising star is the favourite to take home more silverware in the Outright Class, who is currently racing in the American Trans Am Series at the Circuit of The Americas.

Herne, however, may find his toughest competition at Bathurst is from within the Garry Rogers Motorsport squad.

Lead title combatant all season Owen Kelly will again return in his Fujitsu-backed Ford Mustang run out of the GRM stable, while fellow Tasmanian Lochie Dalton will aim to end his maiden season on a high.

Outside of GRM’s trio of entries, All American Driveline and Auto’s Ben Grice will be more than a match as proven this season, albeit luck has not been on his side despite being fast at all rounds this season.

Another contender is sure to be Nash Morris in the Supercheap Auto Ford Mustang. The young Queenslander is aiming to put a mixed season behind him by winning the Turtle Wax Trans Am 100.

Brett Holdsworth enjoyed an impressive season aboard his TPS Group/Breeze Holiday Parks Chevrolet Camaro run by the experienced Ashley Seward Motorsport crew. Finishing third in the standings, Holdsworth was strong when the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series was at the Mountain earlier this year and is a driver not to be discounted.

American Robert Noaker is regarded as leading a new generation of contenders in the US Trans Am Championship, but the 18-year-old will take up the challenge of racing at Australia’s most revered circuit. He will compete in one of Dream Racing AUstralia’s Dodge Challengers.

Recent Turtle Wax Trans Am Series debutant Jack Sipp in the SupaFSeries Mustang, plus MVA Racing duo Brad Gartner and Lee Stibbs round out a competitive Outright field.

West Australian pair Jason Pryde and Brett Niall lead the Trans Am Cup contenders in a field featuring category regulars or returnees.

Hugh McAlister finished top 10 in the 2022 Turtle Wax Trans Am Series standings and will be a frontrunner in the class. Stiff competition will come from James Simpson, Adam Hargreaves, Aaron Tebb, Zach Loscialpo, Dylan Thomas and newcomer Nick Lange.

Craig Scutella in the Dream Racing Australia Chevrolet Camaro heads the Mountain Master Class, while regular rivals Mark Crutcher, Jason Hassett and John Holinger will provide the competition.

The Turtle Wax Trans Am 100 will occur on Sunday to complete the weekend for the category at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International, while action really starts on Thursday evening at the Circuit to City parade ahead of track action beginning on Friday.

The Trans Ams will be joined by the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series where the title will be decided on the mountain.

Also competing is the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS, Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters, Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, Australian Production Car Series and the Bathurst Sportscar Challenge.
