Nathan Herne clean-sweeps practice at Queensland Raceway

Team Valvoline GRM’s Nathan Herne has finished on top in both practice sessions for Round 5 of the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series at Queensland Raceway.

Sitting second in the points after a DNF at Sydney Motorsport Park, Herne bounced back to lead fellow title contender Tim Brook in both sessions.

The first session held this morning finished with Herne setting the fastest time, a 1m 12.305s to be just 0.073s clear of the Andrew Miedecke Ford-supported Wall Racing Mustang of Brook.

Racing at his home round, Nash Morris placed the Supercheap Auto Ford Mustang third to be 0.296s behind as series leader Owen Kelly edged the NAPA Auto Parts entry of Jett Johnson to round out the top five.

Turtle Wax Trans Am Series debutant Brodie Kostecki was sixth in the Boost Mobile Racing Chevrolet Camaro ahead of the All American Driveline Mustang of Ben Grice, Lochie Dalton’s Garry Rogers Motorsport example, the TPG Group Ashley Seward Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro of Brett Holdsworth and Jack Sipp’s Supa F Series Spares Mustang completed the top 10.

Ryan Gurton, Elliott Barbour, Jackson Rice and Cody Burcher just missed the top 10.

Herne again led the way in the second session to improve upon his time to a 1m 12.257s as Brook was this time 0.310s behind, with Morris maintaining third.

Kelly improved to fourth from Kostecki, Johnson, Holdsworth, Grice, Burcher in the PBS Specialty Coatings Mustang and Dalton.

Debutant Tom Hayman was 11th ahead of Edan Thornburrow, Barbour, Rice and Jon McCorkindale.

This session completes the action today for Turtle Wax Trans Am Series at Queensland Raceway, qualifying is next up tomorrow at 8:05am AEST.
