Dodge voted favourite brand in Turtle Wax Trans Am
The fans of Turtle Wax Trans Am have emphatically voted Dodge as their favourite brand in the burgeoning category.
Although the Dodge Challenger is the least represented in the field as its sole representative is rising star Nic Carroll driving the Hogan Prestige Cars example.
It’s strange as the body style won last year’s title in the hands of Dream Racing Australia and Garry Rogers Motorsport-supported driver Nathan Herne, but outside of this success the Dodge Challenger has a very limited history in Australian motorsport.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Ford Mustang is the most popular model in the field and took out the runner up slot gaining 33 percent of the vote.
In contrast to the Challenger, Mustang enjoys a rich history in Australian motorsport starting with Bob Jane, Norm Beechey, Ian Geoghegan and Allan Moffat in the 1960s, before Dick Johnson took on the touring car championship in one during the mid-1980s.
Currently, the Mustang holds the top three positions in the series this year led by GRM duo Owen Kelly and Herne.
Rounding out the three models represented with 17 percent of the vote is the Chevrolet Camaro, with its fortunes being led in the title chase by TPS Group Ashley Seward Motorsport’s Brett Holdsworth in fourth.
Just as this poll finishes, another starts as you can vote for your favourite Australian permanent circuit.
