ICL Racing shines with Turtle Wax Best Presented Team Award
The second round of the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series at Phillip Island may not have yielded the results ICL Racing aimed for on track, but the three-car team did win the weekend’s Best Presented Team Award.
With thanks to series title partner Turtle Wax, the Best Presented Team Award recognises the team which represents the highest standards of:
- Car Presentation – livery/aesthetic appeal, overall vehicle finish and decal placement
- Crew Presentation – team apparel and consistent appearance
- Pit Garage Presentation
- General team attitude, organisation and compliance
Headed by renowned team manager and car preparer Les Small, ICL Racing runs three cars in the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series – the #03 All American Driveline & Parts Ford Mustang of Ben Grice, the #48 Hogan Prestige Cars Dodge Challenger of Nic Carroll and the #23 Chevrolet Camaro of John Holinger.
The team displayed blistering speed over the course of the round with Grice starting from a maiden Trans Am pole position after topping the field in Friday practice, before going on to lead Saturday’s opening race convincingly until a late-race mechanical issue slowed the #03 Mustang.
Despite suffering contact in both of Sunday’s races, Grice reset the category lap record in Race 2, during which Trans Am rookie Carroll also charged from 24th on the grid to a brilliant fifth by its end.
ICL Racing receives $500 cash and a Turtle Wax product pack as the Best Presented Team of the Phillip Island round.
The next round of the Turtle Wax Trans Am Series takes place at Mount Panorama on April 14-17, forming part of the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour event.
All of the action will be live, ad-break free and on demand exclusively on Stan Sport in Australia.
