Lochie Dalton continues testing program

Recently announced Garry Rogers Motorsport Trans Am Series driver Lochie Dalton completed a successful test yesterday at Symmons Plains as he continues preparations for next year’s campaign.

Mentor Marcos Ambrose was on hand as Dalton completed a day of testing in Tim Shaw’s Chevrolet Camaro.

“It was really good,” Dalton said. “The first session I was just getting comfy with everything, getting a feel for it all and trying to get used to it. In the second session I was feeling pretty comfy and doing alright, even though we weren’t looking at the times.

“The next few sessions I knew how the car was going to react to things and the times started to come, which was good.

“I tried to push the limits, but also trying to do it in the right way so you don’t end up crashing the thing, but just learning how hard I can push without trying to rush things.”

With Ambrose guiding him, Dalton was thrilled with the progression he made throughout the day and revealed his times placed him within the top 10 of the Trans Am field comparative to the opening round held at Symmons Plains earlier this year.

“It was really handy to have Marcos here, because he did that process with me and it ended up working really well.

“He knows these cars like the back of his hand and how to drive them as well. He just knows everything you should be doing, he knows what I’m about to do and how to handle the situation, so it’s just massive to have him here.

“Marcos didn’t pressure me at all, he set stages and once I achieved it, we moved to the next so it was just super handy having him there.”

Dalton hopes to continue further testing in his GRM Ford Mustang closer to the end of the year.
