Record Trans AM field to unleash on Sydney Motorsport Park
A record field of Trans Am cars have entered Round 4 of the national series at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend.
Thirty of the thundering Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros and Dodge Challengers will take to the 3.93km circuit, with title rivals Aaron Seton and Nathan Herne set to recommence their intense season-long battle.
Mustang driver Seton currently sits on top of the leaderboard, just two points clear of Herne’s Valvoline-backed Dodge.
The pair hold a clear 80 point gap to third placed driver Edan Thornburrow, who has impressed with pace and consistency in his Team Sydney Property Care Mustang.
While the battle at the front will be the focus, the size of the grid will make for a deafening roar around the Sydney track.
A record 30 cars will take to the grid, with a number of Trans Am first timers and returnees bolstering the field.
Ron Mollar and Adam Hargraves will make their National Trans Am debut, with Queenslander Hargraves having only recently securing his Camaro.
Steve Coulter will also make his first appearance in Trans Am, taking the reins from his son Michael who usually drives the Kobelco Racing Mustang.
Shaun Richardson and Anthony Tenkate return to the fold, last seen in Trans Am at the Adelaide street race and have not competed since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also returning to the fold is Zac Loscialpo, Paul Freestone, Jason Hassett, Tim Shaw and Brett Holdsworth, who all missed the Bathurst round and will be keen to put their best foot forward in Sydney.
Trans Am will practice and qualify on Friday, followed by two races on Saturday and one on Sunday.
Tickets are available for Saturday and Sunday, but can only be purchased online. CLICK HERE for ticketing options.
